As part of a campaign to get a library established at the DC Jail, I emailed this list (http://lists.ala.org/wws/info/prison-l) a couple months ago to ask for help in determining how different jail libraries function. We've gotten a good response and used it to submit a proposal to the DC Dept of Corrections based on information from you all and from the DOC here about its desires.
Right now we are urging Mayor Vincent Gray to put funding for a DC Jail Library into this year's budget, which he is currently drafting. Because our campaign started with information-gathering, much of which was done through this listerv (prison-l@ala.org), I figured I should sendour petition out to everyone on here.
